kusasira lydia's nursery school and some 6th graders in nakabaale

The primary school at St Paul's parish in Nakabaale is just getting started. As you can see, all we have to do is open a school and instantly there are huge classes. When weather is nice, they meet under the mango tree. When it's not so nice, they meet in the church, along with several other classes. Lydia and her fellow teachers (who earn something like $20/month) are hoping to get a school someday, though.

The other picture shows a 6th grade class meeting under a mango tree. Although Nakabaale is a new school and construction is in progress, there are not enough classrooms, so some classes meet under a mango tree in nice weather (it gets very crowded indoors when it rains). Note that one of these 6th graders is 44 years old. That's how it is in Uganda— you get education when you can afford it. Apparently his parents died, leaving him to raise 5 or 10 siblings, which he did, and now he wants to finish school. Yay! all the best to him!
