earth : our sadness and our joy
Where is time? The lightest breeze
Though logos is common to all,
people live as if they had
wisdom on their own.
gate without hinges
stones in half circle
Can names be born
in a land forgotten?
What smell is this
that cuts through the air
like a swarm of bees?
and you drew the arrow back to your ear
to learn from the sting's vibration
whether it had found or missed its mark
Because i deeply praised
and trusted earth
I did not say
"here life starts,
here ends,"
but "days of rain
bring light"
Whereas whoever is downcast and weary
cross-eyed and out at the elbows
is most manifestly part of the scene
