- Joel Marcus "Entering into the Kingly Power of God" (JBL 107/4 (1988) 663-675). We commonly understand New Testament statements about the 'kingdom of God' as referring to a place (usually, 'heaven when you die'). But this is not what the New Testament is talking about. 'Entering the kingdom of God' would better be translated 'entering into God's kingly power'.
